Filigree steel structure lends its support to the structure of a bed

The design explores an alternative to the solid and often ‘heavy-looking’ precedents of the type. The timber frame appears to hover above the ground, borrowing its support from the slender filigreed steel structure that envelops it.

The tentative relationship between frame and structure is further explored in the manner in which the tubular steel rod is slanted and tilted along its continuous triangulated structure with the connection between itself and the timber frame concealed at every junction.

A simple oak headboard is integrated into the frame is and is attached to the continuous steel structure, allowing a slight amount of welcome deflection.

Materials: American white oak, SA pine slats, powder-coated mild steel structure.
