Contemporary Vernacular in a 19th century Victorian village

A modest two-bedroom dwelling takes it form-giving cues from neighbouring precedents. These pertain to the simple orthoganal building envelope and pitched roof. An angular grid offset is implemented in the organisation of internal spaces and responds more accurately to solar orientation as opposed to the street grid.

Materials are limited to whitewashed bagged brickwork and a white waterproofed plywood roof. Punched window openings are considered and reminiscent of existing precedent whilst large openings allude to a contemporary requirement for an integrated indoor-outdoor dissolve maifest by the recessed conversation pit which extends to form the terrace.
